Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers earned the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and will get their playoff run started against the Washington Wizards on Sunday, May 23. Philadelphia has been a top three seed in each of the previous three seasons but have won just two playoff series in that span

Joel Embiid, illness — Embiid did not play in the regular season finale, which was a meaningless game for the 76ers. A non-COVID illness was the specified reason for his absence, but it was likely just rest for the playoffs.

Ben Simmons, back — Simmons was also held out of the regular season finale for precautionary reasons and will likely be on the floor for Game 1.

Danny Green, hip — Green missed the regular season finale with an injury to his hip but should be ready for the postseason.

Matisse Thybulle, hand — Thybulle sat out the last four games of the regular season, so his injury is a bit more significant than the three listed above. He was a full participant in practice earlier this week and should be ready for playoff basketball.

Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards officially qualified for the NBA playoffs by blowing out the Indiana Pacers. They will enter as the No. 8 seed of the Eastern Conference and match up with the Philadelphia 76ers in a first round series starting on Sunday, May 23.

The Washington Wizards will continue to be without Deni Avdija and Thomas Bryant, who are both ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Deni Avdija, ankle — Deni Avdija did some light shooting prior to the Wizards’ play-in game against the Boston Celtics, but he was ruled out for the rest of the season last month with a right fibular hairline fracture.

Thomas Bryant, knee — Thomas Bryant tore his ACL early this season and will not be available for the playoffs.
