The Minnesota Twins will head on the road to Kauffman Stadium for the opening game of their American League Central battle versus the Kansas City Royals on Thursday night.

The Twins enter this series with the third-worst record in the AL at 22-32 and are currently on a 96-loss pace. While Minnesota has played better as of late, the Twins will likely struggle to make the postseason, let alone contend for a third straight AL Central title.

Kansas City Royals

The Kansas City Royals will be out to build on their 10-5 win over the Pirates in their last game. The Royals sit in third place in the AL Central race, 5.0 games back of the division-leading Chicago White Sox. The Kansas City Royals are 27-26 on the year after a 10-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates last game played. Andrew Benintendi sparked the Royals offense with an RBI single in the first inning. Kansas City gave up three runs in the third and one in the 4th but made up for it with a five-run 5th powered.

Minnesota Twins

The Minnesota Twins will try to bounce back from a 6-3 loss at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles in their last game. The Minnesota Twins are 22-32 on the year after losing three of the last five games played. Michael Pineda got the start last game for the twins giving up five earned runs on seven hits in three innings of work resulting in the loss. Randy Dobnak took the loss, falling to 1-5 on the year after allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out three over 5.2 innings of work. J.A. Happ will start here and is 3-2 with a 5.24 ERA and 35 strikeouts this season.

The Twins dropped two of three against the Royals in their series last weekend and they are 3-3 in six games versus Kansas City this season. Take Minnesota to open its series in Kansas City with a win on Thursday night.
